We’ve been loving the recent hype around the Nike x Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1 sneakers release – taken to the next level by a collaboration with BespokeIND for a customised McLaren 97’20S to mark Air Max Day.

The sneaker’s release was also aided by a custom VW bus complete with matching design which made for some truly insta-perfect imagery.

This is just the latest in a long history of sneakers, fashion and fast cars. An ultra rare piece of history was made in the 1990’s when McLaren x ASICS produced sneakers for their pit crew only. The odd pair pop up on eBay from time to time if you look carefully.

Porsche x Nike Air Max Light GT3 RS saw matching silver, black, green and orange colour ways, and Livestock x Ferrari x PUMA Mid collection took this one step further by using tyre rubber on the mid sole trim and leather insoles with a race track imprint.

Nike Air Jordan and Addidas Kobe also love a motor-inspired design, with influence coming from Ferrari, Audi and Bentley. And who can forget the DMC-12 x Nike 6.0 DeLorean Dunk – inspired by the DeLorean DMC-12 from the movie Back to the Future?

Back to today and AAPE+ BY A BATHING APE sportswear recently commemorated their new release with AAPE+ branded Audi R8’s for Pheonix Racing Asia. Their cars feature a unique camouflage design and AAPE+ branding and drivers were also provided with exclusive racing gear.

So take inspiration from these exclusive collaborations and design your own altr sneakers to match your motor or the car of your dreams!
